Lance Davis and Graham McKissock first met in 2006 while living as neighbors in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. It didn’t take long for them to discover they had the same passion for food, drink, and music. They also discovered that they both owned their own businesses and shared the same entrepreneurial spirit. They would spend hours discussing the exciting new food truck boom in Boston, their favorite restaurants, and their desire to create something truly unique. When Graham and Lance talked about how Lance had just spent a year restoring a 1978 Airstream trailer into a modern camper, the lightbulb went on.
The two purchased a 1983 Airstream trailer and created a business plan to repurpose the camper into a mobile event space. They envisioned the space as a standout bar service for a beach wedding or a promotional tool for businesses and organizations. They were convinced people would love the idea. And they did.
They teamed up with local architect, Sue Devoe, to design a space that fit their needs and had a contemporary feel, using repurposed materials sourced around New England. Once the design was set in motion, Lance and Graham completely dismantled the trailer, buffed the exterior, cut a new service window, and worked tirelessly day and night to bring their vision to light. After a year, Hive was born. We can’t wait to share it with you!
